Luke 2:14

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”

The climax of the Advent story ends up in a make-shift nursery. An announcement is made, and a baby is born.

The Angel’s Song Reminds Us of the Love of Jesus: I John 3:1

“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.”

1. The angel’s song gave new hope to a lonely world. Luke 2:12

“This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

2. The angel’s song was a doxology . Luke 2:14

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”

“Christ died to keep Christmas alive.”

– James M. Boice

Jesus Came As A Song of Love, Not a Song of Judgement: John 3:16

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

1. Only Jesus could make the sacrifice .

2. Only Jesus could pay the sin debt .

“Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: ‘Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased. Then I said, ‘Here I am it is written about me in the scroll I have come to do your will, O God” (Hebrews 10:5-7).

Our Response to His Song of Love Determines Our Destiny: John 1:11-12

“He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God .”

1. We are to respond to Him as we would to a baby .

O Come All Ye Faithful

O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant.

O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem.

Come and behold Him, born the King of angels.

O come, let us adore Him! O come, let us adore Him!

O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord!

2. We are to stop everything and invite Him into our lives.

Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation.

O sing, all ye bright hosts of heav’n above.

Glory to God, all glory in the highest!

O come, let us adore Him! O come, let us adore Him!

O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord!

3. We are to worship Him as Christ the Lord.

Yea, Lord, we greet Thee, born this happy morning.

O Jesus, to Thee be all glory giv’n:

Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing.

O come, let us adore Him! O come, let us adore Him!

O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord!
