Galatians 1:6-10

The Bible contains 66 books and is divided into two major sections, the Old Testament with 39 books and the New Testament with 27 books. There are 1,189 chapters in the Bible.

The Message of Galatians Chapter One:                                                                                 vv. 6-10

1.         The Bible does not need any additions .                                             vv. 6-7

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel 7which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.

2.         The Bible should never be distorted .                                                  vv. 8-9

But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! 9As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!

3.         The Bible should impact change .                                                          v. 10

Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.

My Strategy for Reading and Understanding the Bible:                                                      Acts 4:12

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.

1.         Read thoughtfully .                                                                    Proverbs 2:4

and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,

2.         Read repeatedly .                                                                  2 Timothy 2:15

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

3.         Read prayerfully .                                                                    Nehemiah 1:5

Then I said: O Lord, God of heaven, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and obey his commands,

4.         Read purposefully .                                                           2 Timothy 3:16-17

All Scripture is God‑breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

5.         Read regularly .                                                                             Hosea 4:6

my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.

Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.
