Genesis 24:1-9

Abraham was now old and well advanced in years, and the Lord had blessed him in every way. 2He said to the chief servant in his household, the one in charge of all that he had, Put your hand under my thigh. 3I want you to swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of earth, that you will not get a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I am living, 4but will go to my country and my own relatives and get a wife for my son Isaac.

5The servant asked him, What if the woman is unwilling to come back with me to this land? Shall I then take your son back to the country you came from?

6 Make sure that you do not take my son back there, Abraham said. 7 The Lord, the God of heaven, who brought me out of my father’s household and my native land and who spoke to me and promised me on oath, saying, To your offspring I will give this land he will send his angel before you so that you can get a wife for my son from there. 8If the woman is unwilling to come back with you, then you will be released from this oath of mine. Only do not take my son back there. 9So the servant put his hand under the thigh of his master Abraham and swore an oath to him concerning this matter.

The perfect picture of a soul winner is found in the winning of Rebekah for Isaac. He was heir to Abraham’s fortune according to Genesis 15:3, And Abram said, You have given me no children; so a servant in my household will be my heir. And yet he gave his whole life in service to the one who took his inheritance.

1.   Jesus deserves our servanthood .                                                                  3 John 1:7

It was for the sake of the Name that they went out, receiving no help from the pagans.

2.   The whole world needs love .                                                                       Romans 5:8

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

3.   The Holy Spirit is working .                                                                                Joel 2:28

And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.

4.   Spiritual hunger is rampant .                                                                            John 4:35

Do you not say, Four months more and then the harvest? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.

5.   Unchurched people are lost .                                                                           John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

6.   The church has been commissioned .                                                            John 20:21

Again Jesus said, Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.

7.   Everyone will give an account .                                                               Romans 14:9-12

For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living. 10You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat. 11It is written:

As surely as I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.

12So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.
