John 6:53-58

“Jesus said to them, ‘tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your forefathers ate manna and died, but he who feeds on this bread will live forever.’”

Holy Communion is served at TCN as an outward demonstration of our faith in Jesus Christ. We celebrate at the Lord’s Table together.

COMMUNION REFLECTS OUR VALUES AND BELIEFS:
1 Corinthians 11:24-25

“and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, ‘This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.’ In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.’”

1. It reminds us of our Lord’s death.

2. It is symbolic of His body and blood.

3. It speaks of His second coming.

4. It signifies the unity of our church family.1 Corinthians 10:17

“There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” -Galatians 3:28.

COMMUNION REQUIRES PERSONAL INTROSPECTION:
Psalm 51:10

“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”

1. Adoration. Psalm 29:1-2

2. Confession. Hebrews 4:14-16

“Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

3. Thanksgiving. Psalm 95:2

“Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.”

4. Supplication. Philippians 4:6-8

“Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test? 6And I trust that you will discover that we have not failed the test” -2 Corinthians 13:5-6.

COMMUNION INCLUDES ANYONE WHO LOVES JESUS:
1 Corinthians 12:13

“For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.”

1. You do not have to be a member of TCN.

2. You must be certain about your relationship with Christ.

“And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life” -1 John 5:11-12.
