1 Timothy 6:17-19

Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. 19In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.

God Intends for His Wealth to Be Circulated:                                                                                          Psalm 24:1

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;

1.         Choose truth over falsehood .                                                               John 14:6

Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

2.         Choose holiness over impurity .                                                          Matthew 5:8

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

3.         Choose generosity over comfort .                                      Matthew 6:19-21

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Christ Is Our Model for Generosity:                                                                                                           John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

1.         The freedom principle                                                                                       Proverbs 3:9

2.         The willingness principle.                                                                            2 Corinthians 9:7

3.         The harvest principle.                                                                                     Psalm 126:5-6

Winning Souls Is Our Motivation for a Debt-Free Church:                                                          2 Corinthians 8:9-11

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.

10And here is my advice about what is best for you in this matter: Last year you were the first not only to give but also to have the desire to do so. 11Now finish the work, so that your eager willingness to do it may be matched by your completion of it, according to your means.

1.         Giving satisfies the soul.                                                                                       Luke 6:38

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

2.         Giving edifies the church.                                                                         Matthew 28:18-20

3.         Giving magnifies the Lord.                                                                       2 Corinthians 9:15

Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

The only safe rule is to give more than we can spare.
