Proverbs 7:1-5

Proverbs chapter seven reveals to us that the best of guidance is weak and insignificant unless the wisdom is completely applied to one’s lifestyle.  The call in this chapter is to obedience.

God Calls Us to Faithful Living:                                                                       v. 1-3

1.         Obedience to God results in        protection       .                                    v. 1-2

My son, keep my words and store up my commands within you.   2Keep my commands and you will live; guard my teachings as the apple of your eye.

2.         Application of God=s Word results in         prosperity        .  Proverbs 13:16

A commonsense person lives good sense; fools litter the country with silliness  (The Message).

God Challenges Us to Live Holy:                                                                          v. 3

Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.

1.         Sanctification will bring great         joy       .                  1 Thessalonians 5:23

May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

2.         Sanctification will bring great         power        .                          Acts 11:21-24

The Lord=s hand was with them, and a great number of people believed and turned to the Lord.

22News of this reached the ears of the church at Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas to Antioch.  23When he arrived and saw the evidence of the grace of God, he was glad and encouraged them all to remain true to the Lord with all their hearts.  24He was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and a great number of people were brought to the Lord.

God Counsels Us to Choose Wisely:                                                                    v. 4-5

Say to wisdom, You are my sister, and call under-standing your kinsman;  5they will keep you from the adulteress, from the wayward wife with her seductive words.

1.         The Holy Spirit gives         perfect         guidance.                          John 14:16

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever

2.         The Holy Spirit         inspires         true friendship.

But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you (John 14:26).
