Psalm 127:3-5

1. God created us in His image . Genesis 1:26-27
2. God designed us for human companionship . Genesis 2:18
3. God established the original family unit. Genesis 2:21-22

“Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it” (Proverbs 22:6).

The Family Is Divinely Blessed by God: Genesis 2:24

1. Marriage fulfills God’s purpose for the family. Matthew 19:1,4-6
2. Procreation fulfills God’s plan to populate the earth. Genesis 1:28
“God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”
3. Nurture fulfills Godâs plan for training children. 1 Timothy 5:8
“If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”

The Family Must Be Founded on Biblical Principles: Proverbs 1:8

“Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.”
1. The Bible requires mutual respect and submission in marriage.Ephesians 5:21
“Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.”
2. The Bible denotes the importance of sexual fulfillment in marriage. I Corinthians 7:3-4
“The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. 4The wife’s body does not belong to her alone but also to her husband. In the same way, the husband’s body does not belong to him alone but also to his wife.”
3. The Bible demands faithfulness to the marriage vows. Hebrews 13:4
“Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.”
4. The Bible calls for responsible parenthood in the home. Deuteronomy 6:6-7
“These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. 7Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
5. The Bible instructs children to obey and learn from their parents. Ephesians 6:1
“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.”
