Isaiah 9:6

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Isaiah gives a fourth title, “The Prince of Peace.” In my opinion it is the greatest description of Christ. Peace was the supreme longing of the true Israelite in Isaiah’s day.

Jesus Christ Is the Originator of Peace. Luke 2:14

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”

1. He brought peace at His birth . Psalm 29:11

2. He taught peace in His life . Isaiah 53: 5-7

3. He provided for peace through his death . John 14:27

“and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross” (Colossians 1:20).

Jesus Christ Is the Giver of Perfect Peace. Colossians 3:15

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”

1. He brings peace for your personal life.

2. He brings peace to the life of His church .

“God cannot give us happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing.” –C.S. Lewis

Jesus Christ Is the Authenticator of Real Peace. Isaiah 9:7

“Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.”

1. The millennial reign of Christ in peace. Revelation 20:7-15

2. The eternal age of peace. II Peter 3:14

“So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.”

WONDERFUL PEACE

Far away in the depths of my spirit tonight

Rolls a melody sweeter than psalm;

In celestial-like strains it unceasingly falls

O’er my soul like an infinite calm.

Peace! peace! wonderful peace,

Coming down from the Father above!

Sweep over my spirit for ever, I pray,

In fathomless billows of love.
