Isaiah 9:6

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

The term Everlasting Father is perhaps the most mysterious and puzzling of the four titles that Isaiah gave to the Lord Jesus Christ. The fact that Isaiah calls Christ, “Everlasting Father” should be a mystery. If he is the Son of God, he cannot be the Father. Each person in the Godhead is separate from the other persons of the Trinity, yet they are equally God.

As Everlasting Father, He Is The Father of Eternal Life: John 6:68

“Simon Peter answered him, ‘Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.'”

1. God made us for eternity . Ecclesiastes 3:11

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”

2. Jesus Christ came to earth to reveal eternity . I John 1:1-2

“That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.2The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us.”

“In sending his son to the earth, God caused eternity to invade time.”

As Everlasting Father He Is The Father of Eternal Light: John 8:12

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.'”

1. Sin produced darkness and death .

Romans 6:23

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

2. Time and eternity met in John 3:16.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

“In him was life, and that life was the light of men” (John 1:4).

As Everlasting Father He Is The Father of Eternal Love: I John 4:8

“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”

1. He is the Founder of pure religion. James 1:27

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this; to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”

2. He is the Father of humanity . Romans 8:29

3. He is the exalted Head of all humanity. I Corinthians 15:22

4. He is the Author of divine love. I John 3:1-3

“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him” (v.1).

“Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12.)
