Psalm 25:1-2

To you, O Lord I lift up my soul; 2in you I trust, O my God. Do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me.

David, as he grew older, showed great maturity in offering gratitude to God for past blessings. Waiting on God with patience is never easy.

Waiting for Deliverance:                                                                                            Psalm 27:14

Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

1.         Waiting for victory .                                                                       Psalm 25:3

No one whose hope is in you will ever be put to shame, but they will be put to shame who are treacherous without excuse.

2.         Waiting for forgiveness .                                                            Psalm 25:4-6

Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths; 5guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. 6Remember, O Lord, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old.

Waiting for Fulfillment:                                                                                                Psalm 37:4

Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.

1.         God waits for us.                                                                       Isaiah 30:18

Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!

2.         Discipline can be painful .                                                     Hebrews 12:5-7

And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons:

AMy son, do not make light of the Lord=s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, 6because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son.

7Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father?

Waiting for Answers:                                                                                    Lamentations 3:31-33

For men are not cast off by the Lord forever. 32Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love. 33For he does not willingly bring affliction or grief to the children of men.

1.         Listen for God’s voice .

2.         Accept His guidance .                                                             Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Waiting for People:                                                                                                       Isaiah 30:9

These are rebellious people, deceitful children, children unwilling to listen to the Lord’s instruction.

1.         People will encourage .

2.         People will energize .

Waiting for God:                                                                                                    Colossians 2:1-2

I want you to know how much I am struggling for you and for those at Laodicea, and for all who have not met me personally. 2My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ,

1.         Don’t give up while waiting.                                                    Colossians 1:9

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding.

2.         Focus on hope .                                                                          Psalm 39:7

But now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in you.

3.         Keep eternity in view.                                                                  Psalm 37:4

Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.
