Hebrews 9:24-28

The Bible is the only book in the world that tells us where we’ve come from and where we are going. It speaks with absolute certainty about God, human kind, sin and death.

JUDGMENT DAY IS SURE FOR EVERYONE: Hebrews 9:24-26

“For Christ did not enter a man-made sanctuary that was only a copy of the true one; he entered heaven itself, now to appear for us in God’s presence. Nor did he enter heaven to offer himself again and again, the way the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood that is not his own. Then Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But now he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself.”

1. Death is inevitable. Psalm 89:48

“What man can live and not see death, or save himself from the power of the grave?”

2. Death is impartial. Romans 5:12

“Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned—”

JUDGMENT DAY CARRIES GOOD NEWS AND BAD NEWS: Hebrews 9:27

“Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,”

1. The bad news is sin pays a wage. Romans 6:23

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

2. The good news is Jesus is the Judge. John 5:22

“Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son,”

THERE’S A GREAT DAY COMING

There’s a great day coming, a great day coming;
There’s a great day coming by and by,
When the saints and the sinners shall be parted right and left.
Are you ready for that day to come?

CHRIST DIED ON THE CROSS TO ENSURE A “NOT GUILTY” VERDICT FOR ALL BELIEVERS: Hebrews 9:28

“Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,”

1. We can overcome the power of Satan. 1 John 2:8

“Yet I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining.”

2. We can overcome the power of death. 1 Corinthians 15:55-57

“‘Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?’
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

“Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil—and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.” -Hebrews 2:14-15.
