John 6:35

“Then Jesus declared, ‘I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.’”

The book of John centers on the miracles and teachings of Jesus Christ. With each miracle He paves the way for the human mind to comprehend the path to eternal life.

LESSON ONE: JESUS IS THE SUSTAINER OF PHYSICAL LIFE. John 6:1-15

1. He came to earth in human fashion. John 1:11-12

“He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—”

2. He came to meet human needs. James 1:17

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”

“And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him” -Matthew 6:7-8.

LESSON TWO: JESUS IS OUR POWERFUL PROTECTOR. John 6:16-21

1. He helps us cope with doubtsfears, and problems. v. 19

“When they had rowed three or three and a half miles, they saw Jesus approaching the boat, walking on the water; and they were terrified.”

2. He reminds us that He is the ultimate giver of peace. v. 20

“But he said to them, ‘It is I; don’t be afraid.’”

“Jesus answered, ‘It is written: “Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God”’” -Matthew 4:4.

LESSON THREE: JESUS IS THE PROVIDER OF SPIRITUAL LIFE. John 6:32-40

1. He points out the futility of working for that which perishes. v. 32

“Jesus said to them, ‘I tell you the truth, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven.’”

2. He deals with the issue of soul salvation. v. 35

“Then Jesus declared, ‘I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.’”

“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me’” -John 14:6.
