2 Peter 1:21

                                                                             

For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

 

 

The Bible provides the directions, all we need to do is read them.

1.         Read the Bible         daily        .                             Ephesians 5:15-17

Be very careful, then, how you liveCnot as unwise but as wise,  16making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.  17Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.

A.         The Bible is God=s         Word        .

B.        The Bible is a source of         strength        .

C.        The Bible is a         mirror        .

D.        The Bible is a         history         book.

E.        The Bible is a         love         letter.

F.         The Bible is a         will         and testament.

 

2.         Read it for         wisdom        .                                Psalm 119:33-40

Teach me, O Lord, to follow your decrees; then I will keep them to the end.  34Give me understanding, and I will keep your law and obey it with all my heart.  35Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight.  36Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain.  37Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word. 38Fulfill your promise to your servant, so that you may be feared.  39Take away the disgrace I dread, for your laws are good.  40How I long for your precepts! Preserve my life in your righteousness.

 

3.         Pray for         understanding        .                                   Acts 17:11

Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

 

4.         Approach it with a         humble         attitude.       Jeremiah 10:23-24

I know, O Lord, that a man’s life is not his own; it is not for man to direct his steps.  24Correct me, Lord, but only with justiceC not in your anger, lest you reduce me to nothing.

 

5.         Study the Bible in a         topical         manner.        2 Timothy 2:5

Similarly, if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not receive the victor’s crown unless he competes according to the rules.

–          Use a concordance.

–          Use a Bible dictionary.

–          Use a parallel translation.

–          Use a commentary.

 

6.         Allow the Holy Spirit         instruct        .      Matthew 5:48

Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

 

7.         Review, meditate and         apply        .               Psalm 1:1-3

Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.

2But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.

3He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.

 

8.         Remain true to its         teachings        .        1 Thessalonians 5:21

Test everything. Hold on to the good.

 

9.         Put God’s Word to the         test        .             Malachi 3:10

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.
