Romans 15:1-2

“Even if we believe that it makes no difference to the Lord whether we do these things, still we cannot just go ahead and do them to please ourselves; for we must bear the ‘burden’ of being considerate of the doubts and fears of others; of those who feel these things are wrong. Let’s please the other fellow, not ourselves, and do what is for his good and thus build him up in the Lord” (TLB).

Life is a series of choices. Good decisions have the potential to impact our lives positively. Poor decisions negatively scar us forever.

WHAT DOES GOD’S WORD HAVE TO SAY ABOUT MY CHOICES? Psalm 119:105
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.”
1. The test of Scripture . Psalm 1:2

“But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.”
2. The test of prayer . Luke 11:9

“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”

HOW WILL MY CHOICES IMPACT MY LIFE? Proverbs 10:9
The man of integrity walks securely, but he who takes crooked paths will be found out.
1. The Wesley test. James 4:17

Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it, sins. 2. The conscience test. Romans 4:14

For if those who live by law are heirs, faith has no value and the promise is worthless
3. The consequences test. Romans 6:23

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

WILL MY CHOICES FULFILL MY LIFE’S MISSION? I Corinthians 10:23
“>Everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial. >Everything is permissible, but not everything is constructive.”
1. We only have a certain amount of time . Psalm 90:12

“Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
2. Our lives will count for God when we focus on His purposes. Romans 8:28

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

WILL MY CHOICES PASS THE SELF-CONTROL TEST? I Corinthians 6:12
“I can do anything I want to if Christ has not said no, but some of these things aren’t good for me. Even if I am allowed to do them, I’ll refuse to if I think they might get such a grip on me that I can’t easily stop when I want to” (TLB).

WILL MY CHOICES PASS THE W.W.J.D. TEST? Romans 14:12-13
“So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God. 13Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother’s way.”
1. The mark of Christian maturity is complete surrender .
2. The expression of Christian maturity is generosity .

“Give, and it will be given to you” (Luke 6:38).
