Ephesians 5:15-17

Be very careful, then, how you live not as unwise but as wise,  16making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.  17Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.

The early church issued a dynamic call to Christians to move from impurity to holiness and sanctification.  For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life  (1 Thessalonians 4:7).

Holiness Is Discovered Through the Pursuit of Gifts:                                           Ephesians 4:11-13

It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers,  12to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up  13until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

1.         Gifts are given for the         common         good of the church body. 1 Corinthians 12:7

Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.

2.         Every believer has at least one         spiritual         gift.                              1 Peter 4:10

Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.

Holiness Is Modeled Through the BelieverÕs Lifestyle:

1.         Jesus is our         model        .                                                                Mark 10:43-44

Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,  44and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.

2.         Jesus is our         mentor        .                                                              Matthew 25:40

The King will reply, I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.ÕÓ

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal (1 Corinthians 13:1).

Holiness Is Communicated Through Discipleship:                                                     Matthew 28:19-20

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

1.         We conform by seeking         first         His kingdom.                              Matthew 6:33

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

2.         We witness by being His         ambassadors        .                       2 Corinthians 5:19-20

that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.  20We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.
