Ephesians 2:1

“As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,”

“Baptism is an outward sign of an inward work.” -T. M. Anderson

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE BAPTIZED? 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

“For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,”

1. Baptism is a verbal sermon.

2. Baptism is a visual sermon.

WHAT WILL BAPTISM DO FOR ME? Romans 6:6-7

“For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— 7because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.”

1. Baptism unites us with Christ. Galatians 2:20

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

2. Baptism motivates us to Christian holiness. Ephesians 2:1

“As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,”

“His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness” -2 Peter 1:3.

WHAT DOES BAPTISM ACHIEVE? Romans 6:11

“His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.”

1. A new mental outlook. Romans 6:11

2. A new spiritual courage. Romans 6:12-13

“Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness.”
